Azule Energy is an incorporated joint venture (IJV) between BP p.l.c. and Eni SpA, with bp and Eni each holding a 50% share.
Azule Energy operates in Angola under different Petroleum agreements which set out its contractual relationship with the Angolan Government, represented by the National Concessionaire. The referred agreements provide the framework for carrying out the Petroleum operations.

Azule Energy approaches sponsorships as strategic, governed investments aligned with our brand, reputation and business priorities — not as ad-hoc support. Our focus is on partnerships that promote our business, stakeholder engagement, diversity & inclusion, mass sports, clean energy, and decarbonisation.
Ad-hoc requests, such as donations, social investment related, academic initiatives, trade associations and non‑operated joint ventures, are considered outside our corporate sponsorships scope.

Joe Murphy is the CEO of Azule Energy effective on 1 December 2025. He brings over 20 years of global experience in the energy sector, having held senior leadership roles at bp, including Vice President of Global Integration and Senior Vice President for the creation of Azule Energy. Joe also served as President of bp Turkey and led the development of the Azerbaijan Shah Deniz field and the $40 billion Southern Gas Corridor project.
His career spans operational and commercial leadership across the Gulf of Mexico, Middle East, and Asia. In 2020, Joe was seconded as Chief Industry Officer to the Sustainable Markets Initiative, driving cross-sector sustainability strategies. He began his career at Mobil Oil after graduating from Cambridge University and later worked in energy consulting before joining bp in 2000.
